LOL.....and you call yourself an LSU fan.

A REAL fan would have his ass up in Atlanta with the rest of us, instead of hanging around a boat all day.

THANKS for the list.

What game do you play? It's difficult to make a list for you. There is one book that is useful for all games: Theory of Poker by David Sklansky. It will require many re-reads but it is worth it and it may be the smartest $30 you'll ever spend.

While waiting for your answer I'll say one thing: I've always heard that every book is valuable if you get at least one good, solid strategy element. There is an exception. Anything written by Ken Warren is not only worthless...it will teach you things that will lose you far more at the tables than you paid for the book. And it will take you months to unlearn the flawed advice that Warren spouts. Any bookstore that stocks them should be ashamed.

Winning low limit hold em (Lee Jones)

Winners guide to texas hold em (Ken Warren)

Theory of poker (Sklansky)

These should be mandatory reading for a novice player,a novice will learn more from these 3 books than 3 years at a poker table......

The best books on poker are published by Two PLus Two publishing and include The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky and Getting Started in Holdem by Ed Miller. Most of the other books mentioned are second rate at best, even Doyle's book. Forget about anything written by McEvoy or his partners.

The very best book for winning at limit holdem in today's games (especially online) is Small Stakes Holdem by Ed Miller, David Slklansky, and Mason Malmuth. And it's not even close.

Two plus Two puts out poker texts, every other poker source is behind them.

McEvoy's books suck. The best tourny books by far are the most recent, Harrington's books. Fantastic. And you will get more out of Harringtons book on your first read. The other two plus two titles require a couple reads before you really grasp the concept especially if you are new. I guarntee if you went into the hotel rooms at any major tourny you will find harrington's book in a majority of them.
